Kana Yamaguchi, 24, will represent Japan at the 71st Miss World pageant. She is a licensed teacher and works as a model. She was crowned in a pageant held at the Hulic Hall and Conference in Taito City which is part of the Metropolitan Tokyo. This is her second attempt to win the coveted title. In 2020 she was the second runner-up to Maria Kaneya.
Ranked 9th at the Big5 Ranking, Japan is a country that is underperforming at the Miss World pageant. Its highest placement was in 1956 when Midoriko Tokura became the third runner-up. In the last two editions of Miss World, Japan failed to make it to the semis.
