Mister International 2013 delegates flew off to Jogja via Garuda Indonesia airlines to continue their activities in the pageant. Part of their itinerary is the Sultan’s Palace – a place that embodies the town’s rich culture & tradition. One of the important local guides explained the significance of the King’s palace. Mister South Africa was happy to visit the centre of its cultural and political evolution. “It was interesting to imagine what took place there in ancient times as well as the political achievements of its more recent king,” he said.
One of the highlights of the day is the candidates’ visit to the very lively Malioboro Street – a long walkway of street vendors and shops. As they say, you have not visited Yogyakarta until you visit Malioboro. Mister Korea through an interpreter said he was thrilled to ride in a “becak” trishaw & horse cart and get the opportunity to go shopping. “This is the place to be if you are looking for a good bargain as anything and everything under the sun can be found here,” he said.
Chaperons, the organizers as well as members of the press followed the contestants closely as they toured the vicinity & haggled for souvenir items. The most sought-after delegates of press people are Misters Belgium, Peru, Indonesia, Philippines, El Salvador, Mexico & Chile.
