Beautiful Yuki Koshikawa, a native of Chiba Prefecture who is a free-lance writer and model in Tokyo, was hailed as the new Miss Supranational Japan 2017. She bested 23 other delegates from all over Japan in a spectacular show at the Saitama Kaikan. Representing Higashi Tokyo, Yuki was previously 1st runner-up at the Osaka regionals held last March.
This year’s competition was filled with interesting trivias. 1st Runner-up Emiri Shimizu (Miss Saitama) was last year’s 2nd Runner-up representing Gunma. She was send to Ecuador to compete at Miss United Continents 2016 and to Colombia for the Reina Internacaional del Cafe 2017. Meanwhile, wild card entry, Misaka Hoshi of Ibaraki, who flew all the way from Singapore was declared as 2nd Runner-up. The dusky office worker was only called in to fill for the vacant spot left by one finalist when she decided to quit due to personal reasons.
Completing the Magic 5 were Miss Chiba, Kumi Miyame and Miss Miyagi, Hitomi Sato. Kumi was also declared as Miss Friendship and People’s Choice winner, while Hitomi received the award of Miss Elegance. Miss Photogenic award went to Miss Shiga, Azusa Fujii.
The gorgeous Miss Supranational 2016, Srinidhi Shetty, was one of the distinguished guests during the pageant night.
This year’s panel of judges were composed of track star Daichi Kamino, Miss Universe Japan 2008 Mima Hiroko, Miss Supranational Japan 2010 Miou Fujinaga, Filipino fashion designer Leo Almodal, among others.
