The 19 official candidates of Miss Grand Philippines 2014 were officially presented to the members of the press last July 31st at The Hub @ Kilometer Zero in Manila.
The pageant boasts of a “fresh and impressive” line-up of candidates for its inaugural year, which includes an equestrienne, a classical ballerina and a former collegiate basketball varsity player. The winner will represent the country in the second edition of Miss Grand International 2014 to be held on October 7th in Bangkok Thailand.
“We are starting small but right. I guess that’s the best way up,” said John Dela Vega, Miss Grand Philippines head and a respected beauty queen maker and stage and pageant director. Dela Vega also wrote the pageant’s theme song titled “A Grand Dream”, with melody by Gerry De Leon and arrangement by Khalil Refuerzo. singer-songwriter Reuben Laurente interpreted the song.
Two crowns were also unveiled during the press presentation: the perpetual crown and the activity crown.
The finals will be held on August 16th at the GT-Toyota Asian Cultural Center, in Diliman, Quezon City. The reigning Miss Grand International Janelee Chaparro of Puerto Rico and MGI owner and president Nawat Itsaragrisil will be attending the coronation night.
Last year, Bb Pilipinas 2012 2nd runner-up Ali Forbes was handpicked to represent the country in MGI where she finished 3rd runner-up.
