สำหรับผู้ที่พำนักอยู่นอกประเทศไทย การต้อนรับการกลับบ้านเยี่ยงวีระสตรีของชาติที่มิสยูนิเวิร์สไทยแลนด์ ชลิตา ส่วนเสน่ห์ได้รับนัก ดูเป็นเรื่องชวนให้ประหลาดใจอยู่สักหน่อย แฟนๆที่มากันอย่างมืดฟ้ามัวดินที่ต่างก็ไปเฝ้ารอทักทายเธอที่ทางประตูขาเข้าของสนามบินสุวรรณภูมินั้นเป็นเรื่องเหลือเชื่อมากๆ คำถามก็คือว่าเหตุใดเธอถึงได้รับการต้อนรับเยี่ยงผู้ชนะเช่นนี้ After all, Chalita didn’t really won the crown. ทั้งๆที่ในที่สุดแล้วเธอไม่ได้เป็นคนที่คว้ามงกุฏกลับบ้าน

For people outside of Thailand, the hero’s welcome given to Miss Universe Thailand Chalita Suansane was a bit puzzling. The cheering throngs of fans that greeted her on arrival at the airport was completely unbelievable.  So why was she welcomed back as if she was victorious? After all, Chalita didn’t really won the crown.

คำตอบก็คือว่า ชลิตานั้นเป็นมากกว่านางงามธรรมดา ทว่าเธอเป็นนางงามของประชาชน กูรูนางงามต่างก็เชื่อว่าเธอคือตัวเก็งก่อนที่จะเหยียบแผ่นดินมะนิลามาประกวดนางงามจักรวาลครั้งที่ 65 เสียด้วยซ้ำ นี่ก็เป็นเหตุผลว่าทำไมแฟนๆถึงฝากความหวังไว้ที่ตัวเธอ ว่าเธอจะเป็นคนที่คว้ามงกุฎที่สามให้กับไทยได้ในที่สุด

The truth is, Chalita is more than just a beauty queen. She is the people’s beauty queen. Before she even landed in Manila for the Miss Universe 2016 pageant, a lot of beauty experts believe that she is a front-runner for the crown. That is why the Thai fans were pinning their hopes that on the 65^th edition of Miss Universe, the third crown will finally be realized.

ชลิตา ได้รับการสนับสนุนอย่างที่สุด ไม่ใช่จากแฟนๆนางงามเท่านั้นแต่จากคนทั้งชาติอีกด้วย เวทีนางงามจักรวาลตัดสินใจยกพื้นที่ผู้เข้ารอบ 13 คนสุดท้ายให้กับผู้ที่ชนะเสียงโวตจากผู้ชมทั่วโลกและแฟนๆของชลิตาก็ออกมาช่วยกันประชาสัมพันธุ์เชิญชวนให้คนออกมากดโวตให้เธอ หลังจากมีการนับคะแนนกว่าสิบล้านโวต ชลิตาก็ชนะในที่สุด แม้ว่าเธอจะเข้ารอบจากความนิยมของแฟนๆแต่ผู้วิเคราะห์การประกวดก็ต่างลงความเห็นกันว่าเธอสามารถเข้ารอบได้ด้วยศักยภาพของตัวเธอเองเสียด้วยซ้ำ นี่ไม่ใช่เรื่องลำบากยากเย็นอะไรสำหรับเธอ และการที่เธอฝ่าด่านมาได้ถึงรอบหกคนสุดท้ายก็เป็นข้อพิสูจน์ถึงคำพูดของนักวิเคราะห์ได้เป็นอย่างดี

Chalita received robust support not only from pageant fans but from the entire kingdom. Miss Universe decided to give the 13^th spot to the winner of public voting and her fans went into a campaign spree urging the public to vote for her. After more than 10 million votes were tallied, Chalita emerged victorious. She may be in the semis due to the voting but many analysts believe that even without such, she could easily make the cut. The fact that Chalita made it as far as Top 6, reinforced that claim.

มิตรภาพที่เหนียวแน่นระหว่างชลิตาและคนไทยนั้นเห็นได้อย่างชัดเจนจากการที่เธอประสบความสำเร็จบนเวทีนางงามจักรวาล ระหว่างการประกวดรอบชุดราตรี 9 คนสุดท้าย ชลิตาเลือกสวมชุดที่สะท้อนวัฒนธรรมของประเทศเธอ ชุดสีดำที่สง่าปานหงส์สะท้อนให้เห็นขนบธรรมเนียมประเพณีปฏิบัติของไทยรวมไปถึงการแต่งกายของราชวงศ์ไทย

The rapport of Chalita with the Thai people is very evident in the way she competed at Miss Universe. During the gown competition at the Top 9, she chose a wardrobe that reflects her country’s culture. Her elegant black gown echoed the national costume of Thailand and represented the fashion of Thai royalty.

ในรอบสัมภาษณ์ 6 คนสุดท้าย เมื่อเธอได้รับคำถามว่าใครคือผู้นำโลกที่เธอชื่นชอบ เธอก็เลือกที่จะตอบว่า “ในหลวง” ของคนไทย องค์พระบาทสมเด็จพระเจ้าอยู่หัวภูมิพลอดุลยเดช เธอตอบแทนใจคนไทยซึ่งยังคงไว้อาลัยให้กับพระองค์ที่เสด็จสู่สวรรค์คาลัยไปไม่นาน ทั้งเธอยังตอบเป็นภาษาไทยซึ่งนี่เป็นครั้งแรกในประวัติศาสตร์การประกวดนางงามจักรวาลก็ว่าได้ที่นางงามไทยใช้ภาษาไทยในการตอบคำถามรอบลึกๆ โดยที่ทั้งอาภัสรา หงสกุล (นางงามจักรวาลปี 1965) จีรนันท์ เศวตนันท์ (ผู้เข้ารอบ 5 คนสุดท้ายในปี 1966) และ ภรทิพย์ นาคหิรัญกนก (นางงามจักรวาลในปี 1988) นั้นต่างก็ตอบเป็นภาษาอังกฤษกันหมด

During the Top 6 interview, when she was asked on which politician she admires, she chose the late monarch of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Her answer resonated with the Thai public who are still grieving at the passing of the well-revered king. She also answered using the Thai language which is perhaps the first time in history of Miss Universe as neither Apasra Hongsakula (winner, 1965), Jeeranun Savettanun (Top 5, 1966) nor Porntip Nakhirunkanok (winner, 1988) used the Thai language during their finals night interviews!

เหนือสิ่งอื่นใด ชลิตา ส่วนเสน่ห์ ได้กลายเป็นที่นักของผู้คนมากมายก็เพราะเธอคือสาวงามจากไทยที่สามารถเข้ารอบได้ลึกที่สุดนับตั้งแต่ปี 1988 นี่ก็เท่ากับว่าเธอคือผู้บุกเบิกยุคใหม่ของการประกวดนางงามในไทย การเข้ารอบ 6 สุดท้ายของเธอ ทำให้คาดการณ์ได้เลยว่าประเทศไทยจะยังคงมาแรงในวงการประกวดโลก ชลิตาคือผู้ที่จุดประกายความหวังให้กับคนไทย ฉะนั้นจึงไม่ต้องสงสัยอีกต่อไปว่าเหตุใดเธอถึงได้รับการต้อนรับกลับบ้านเยี่ยงวีระสตรีเช่นนี้

Above all else though, Chalita Suansane became the darling of people because she is the highest ranking Thai beauty queen at the Miss Universe since 1988. She thus opened a new era for Thai pageantry. With her Top 6 finish, it is expected that Thailand will continue to have brighter prospects in the pageant. Chalita gave hope to Thai people and it is without question that she truly deserves a rapturous hero’s welcome.
