Zahra Khanum was crowned the new Miss Universe Singapore, besting 14 other candidates during the finals held August 31 at One Farrer Hotel.
The 23-year-old National University of Singapore sociology graduate will now head on to represent the city-state at the 2018 Miss Universe competition in Bangkok, Thailand in December.
“I’m so happy for the new beginning that I’m going to be on. This journey has been really amazing and I’m very thankful for it,” Khanum, who has Pakistani, Kashmiri and Chinese heritage, was quoted by Yahoo Singapore.
Tiong Jia En and Jaslyn Tan finished first and second runners-up, respectively.
