Puerto Rico is making a comeback in the Miss International beauty pageant after skipping last year’s competition due to the devastating effects of two hurricanes that struck the Caribbean island.
The Nuesta Belleza Puerto Rico organization has appointed Yarelis Salgado as the territory’s repreentative to the 2018 Miss International contest to be held in Tokyo, Japan in November.
The 24-year-old human biology major finished 2nd runner-up in Miss Mundo Puerto Rico 2018 pageant held earlier this year. She also represented Puerto Rico at the 2015 Miss America pageant.
