Just moments after the historic crowning of Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig, Continental Queen titles where given to four candidates which raised some eyebrows. First, the titles themselves: Europe was bundled with Middle East and Africa with Oceania. Second, the titles were not based on the actual results. For example, the highest placed candidate in the Americas region was Miss Mexico Maria Fernanda Beltran but the Miss Americas Universe is Miss Peru Tatiana Calmell.
Among the Big5 Pageants, only Miss Earth does not give Continental Queen titles and it sometimes create some confusion like the ones given at Miss International 2024. According to our sources, the titles are not necessarily given to the highest placed candidate from that region. In the case of Miss Universe, the Continental Queen titles were based on the overall performance of the candidates for the entire duration of the pageant as assessed by the Miss Universe organization. In contrast, the Top 5 during the final nights are solely based on the scores given by the judges.
The first ever Continental Queens will have the honor and previlege of travelling Miss Universe 2024 Victoria Kjær Theilvig. The winners are:
