Vanessa Audrey Susilo, 22, is the new Miss Indonesia 2022. She will represent Indonesia at the 71st edition of Miss World pageant. The Monash University student was crowned in a glittering pageant held at RCTI+ Studio in Jakarta attended by the reigning Miss World Karolina Bielawska of Poland. Ayu Laksmi of Bali is the first runner-up while Alyssandra Wintoyo of Jawa Timur is the second runner-up.
Indonesia is yet to win the Miss World crown but its meteoric rise at the Big5 Ranking suggests they may soon have a Miss World titleholder. Since 2017, the country climbed 7 places and now ranks 45th. This is an astounding feat considering that Indonesia banned its citizens from participating in beauty pageants in early 1970s and returned only to Miss World in 2005.
