Miss Diva 2015 Urvashi Rautela was welcomed back in her native state of Uttarakhand by her well-wishers, fans, family and friends. The Bollywood star and Miss Universe India 2015 titleholder arrived at the Jolly Grant Airport in the state capital city of Dehradun on October 26. It is the first time that Urvashi Rauetla visited her home state – a state that lies within the foot of the Himalayas and is bordered by Nepal to the east and China to the north.
Urvashi Rautela then headed to the famous Tapkeshwar Temple in Dehradun’s Garhi Cantonment area “to seek Lord Shiva’s blessings” according to the Hindustan Times. Already dubbed as the “Diamond Of Uttarakhand” for her achievements and charity works, Urvashi is the pride of her state for being the only Indian woman to have been crowned as Miss Universe India twice! In 2012, she was crowned as I Am She 2012 and should have represented India at Miss Universe but was later found to be underage. She was later dethroned.
Urvashi then met the Chief Minister of the state Harish Rawat. She pledged to promote her state at the international level. “Uttarakhand, the Land of Gods, is the perfect destination for those seeking natural splendor, adventure, spirituality, peace and fun, all at the same time. I would try my best to popularize my state at the Miss Universe platform,” Rautela told Hindustan Times.
The Miss Universe 2015, where Urvashi Rautela will compete, will have its finals night on December 20. To date, two Indian women have garnered the crown – Sushmita Sen in 1994 and Lara Dutta in 2000.In the last edition of Miss Universe, Noyonita Lodh made it to the semis of the pageant which was held in Doral, Florida last January. India is currently ranked as the 8th strongest nation in the world of pageantry based on the Big4 Ranking of Missosology.
