Tya Janè Ramey was crowned Miss World Trinidad and Tobago 2019 on June 16 at the Naparima Bowl in San Fernando.

The 21-year-old national athlete, social worker and professional saxophonist from Five Rivers will head on to compete at the 2019 Miss World contest in Thailand in December. She also won the the sports and talent preliminary competitions, and the Miss Photogenic award.

“It’s surreal; a dream come true! God has truly been good to me and I will be forever thankful for this moment,” Ramey posted on her Facebook page.

Laura Lee Williams (Chaguanas) and Nikita Samlal (Rio Claro) were first and second runners-up, respectively.

Ramey has a bachelor of arts degree in social work and social policies. She is also a volleyball player.

Trinidad and Tobago has won the Miss World crown in 1986 with Giselle Jeanne-Marie Laronde. Missosology.Org
