Toni-Ann Singh was crowned Miss Jamaica World 2019 during the finals held September 20 at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in Kingston.

The 23-year-old psychology and women studies graduate bested 15 other candidates for the right to represent the country at the 2019 Miss World contest in December in London. She also bagged the Best Personality and Most Photogenic special awards.

“This is rather surreal. Mostly I feel like I want to fall into my mom’s arms, but aside from that, I feel humbled to be able to represent my country in this way. It’s an honour and I don’t take that lightly at all,” Singh was quoted by Loop News.

Roshelle McKinley and Alanna Wanliss placed first and second runners-up, respectively. Soyini Phillips, Brianna Knight, and Kadijah McIntosh completed the Top 6.

Jamaica won the Miss World crown thrice (1963, 1976, 1993). The country currently ranks 30th in Missosology Big 5 Ranking. Missosology.Org; Photos from Miss Jamaica World page
