Crowned as Miss Universe Portugal 2022 is 22-year-old Telma Madeira from Póvoa de Varzim. She will represent Portugal in the upcoming 71st edition of Miss Universe pageant. Telma is no stranger in the world of international pageantry. She was Miss Queen Portugal 2017 and Miss Earth Portugal 2018. At Miss Earth 2018 pageant, she was one of the favorites for the crown and landed in the Top 8.
Interestingly, Portugal is yet to win the Miss Universe crown. The country has so far registered only two semifinalists: Laura Gonçalves (Top 10 in 2011) and Sylvie Silva (Top 20 in 2019). At Big5 Ranking, Portugal is steadily rising and is now ranked 56th which is 7 ranks higher than in 2017.
