Tamara Jemuovic, the first runner-up of the Miss Universe Canada 2020 pageant, has been appointed Miss Universe Canada 2021.

The 27-year-old pageant veteran and published international model from Toronto will head on to represent the nation at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Eilat, Israel in December. She succeeds 2020 winner Nova Stevens.

“Winning is a great feeling, but the secret is learning how to lose. No one can go undefeated all the time. Picking yourself up after a crushing defeat, and going on to win again takes an immense amount of strength. 13 years of blood, sweat & tears in pageantry – 1st Runner Up (second place) 5x isn’t an easy pill to swallow. It’s how to take losses that determines if you are fit for taking wins,” she wrote on Instagram.

Jemuovic is a licensed real estate broker and CEO of PHNX Cosmetics. She has travelled to over 30 countries and is multilingual (she speaks English, French, Spanish, Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian).

A familiar face in the international pageant scene, Jemuovic was Miss Earth Canada 2016 and Miss Globe Canada 2019. As Miss Universe Canada 2020 first runner-up, she was previously named Miss International Canada 2020 and was supposed to compete at the 60th Miss International beauty pageant, which was postponed to November 2021.

Jemuovic will now vie for the country’s third Miss Universe crown. Canada currently ranks 23rd in Missosology Big5 Ranking. Missosology.Org; Photos from Miss Universe Canada
