Susana Downes was named Miss Earth Australia 2019 during the finals held September 8 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney.

The 25-year-old singer, dancer and actress edged out 19 other candidates for the title and the right to represent the Land Down Under at the 2019 Miss Earth finals in October in the Philippines. She also bagged the Best in Talent, Best in Evening Gown and People’s Choice awards.

“I am so incredibly honoured to be your new Miss Earth Australia 2019. It has been a dream of mine since entering last year and it finally came true,” Downes posted on Instagram.

Sheridan Mortlock, who took home the Miss Photogenic and Darling of the Press special awards, was named Miss Air Australia. The Miss Water Australia title went to Karyn Xie (Miss Friendship and Best in Environmental Speech), while Pauline Chapman was awarded Miss Fire Australia. Miss Charity Australia 2019 went to Brittany Dickson.

Australia came so close to winning the Miss Earth crown when Dayanna Grageda and Nina Robertson both ended up as Miss Air in the 2015 and 2017 editions of the contest. Missosology.Org; Photo from Miss Earth Australia page
