Miss GS Hellas 2021 Sofia Arapogianni has been named as Greece’s new representative to the upcoming 70th Miss Universe competition in Israel in December.

She replaces Star GS Hellas 2021 Katerina Kouvoutsaki who won’t be able to compete due to “health reasons,” the GS Hellas organization said in a statement.

“Our beauty queen Katerina Kouvoutsaki will not be able to represent our country, in the crown of the universe, for health reasons, which do not allow her to travel,” the organization said.

Arapogianni, 22, hails from the island of Ithaca and studies at the Merchant Marine Academy. She was born to a Greek father and Venezuelan mother. She speaks Greek, English and Spanish.

“My presence at Miss Universe 2021 marks a new era for Greece, since the organization I represent GS Hellas and consequently my own country wants to show that Greece returns to Miss Universe stronger than ever,” Arapogianni said.
