Sofía Aragón of Jalisco was crowned the new Mexicana Universal during the finals held June 23 at Foro de TV Azteca in Ciudad de México.

The 25-year-old singer, entrepreneur, writer and model will represent Mexico in the next edition of the Miss Universe competition.

She was crowned by last year’s winner Andrea Toscano, who has been appointed as Mexico’s representative to Miss International 2019.

Nuevo León’s Claudia Lozano Domínguez placed first runner-up while Maru Nava of Yucatán finished second runner-up. Ángela Delgado (Colima), Cintya Avendaño (Oaxaca), and Ximena Torres (Chiapas) were third, fourth, and fifth runners-up, respectively.

Also crowned in the same event was Mexicana Internacional 2020 Yuridia Durán of Nayarit. She will represent Mexico in Miss International 2020.

Puebla’s Regina Peredo was named Mexicana Hispanoamericana 2019. She will compete in Reina Hispanoamericana 2019.

Reigning Miss International Mariem Velazco graced the event.
