Sienna Evans has been chosen as Miss Bahamas World 2021 during a private selection process made necessary due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

The 24-year-old graduate of bachelor of science in neuroscience and human behavior degree from the Honors College of Florida Atlantic University will represent the nation at the 70th Miss World competition to be held in December in Puerto Rico. She will be officially crowned prior to her departure by outgoing queen Nyah Bandelier on a date to be announced.

“This has been a dream of mine for a very long time, and to realize that it has finally become a reality was sheer joy. I don’t take this for granted at all. This is truly an honor and a privilege, and you can be assured that I am going to give it my all to make the people of The Bahamas proud,” Evans said in a statement sent to Missosology.

No stranger to pageants, Evans placed Miss Universe Bahamas first runner-up at the Miss Bahamas 2015 pageant.

Evans, who serves on the board of the National Brain Injury Foundation in The Bahamas, is the owner of Access Bahamas Medical Labs, a network of bio-medical laboratories offering clinic services, concierge service for Covid tests by appointment, and drive through antigen tests.

It is through her labs that she will facilitate her Beauty with a Purpose project. Her project “Access Granted” will center around providing accessible healthcare to all Bahamians.

Under normal circumstances, Miss Bahamas World is chosen after a nationwide search and grueling pageant competition. However, the process is now on a hiatus since the onslaught of the Covid 19 pandemic which has affected pageants around the world, including the Miss World competition which was postponed for a year.

“We acknowledge that this year’s selection process was not typical, however unusual times call for unusual measures. This was the best possible scenario, given the state we still find ourselves in as a country and the importance of continuity and a return to normalcy, even in pageantry,” said Miss Bahamas Organization president Michelle Malcolm.

“That being said, we are confident that Sienna will do very well at this year’s Miss World pageant, and we are certainly giving her the support that she needs to do so,”
