Shanel Marie Ifill was crowned Miss Universe Barbados 2019 during the finals held September 7 at Hilton Barbados Resort in Needham’s Point St Michael Bridgetown.
The 20-year-old law student and model bested eight other candidates for the title and the right to represent the Caribbean island at the 2019 Miss Universe contest.
Beviny Payne and Hilary Williams placed first and second runners-up, respectively. Alexandra Ortiz and Jeunessa Banfield completed the Top 5.
Williams bagged the People’s Choice Award, while Banfield was named Miss Congeniality. Kristen Asha won Miss Photogenic.
Ifill is “an avid volunteer at the Nightengale Children’s home and tutors mathematics and grammar every Sunday. Through law she has become an advocate for Human Rights and intends to become a Human Rights attorney in four years, working for the United Nation.”
