A 21-year-old student was crowned Miss Earth Schweiz 2017 during the finals held in Lausanne.
Sarah Laura Peyrel bested eight other candidates for the right to represent Switzerland in Miss Earth 2017 pageant. Her runners-up were Cléa Formaz (Miss Fire Schweiz 2017), Wiam Bentaja (Miss Air Schweiz 2017) and Ariana Birrer (Miss Water Schweiz 2017).
“Vor allem wir jungen Menschen sind für unsere Zukunft verantwortlich. Mit meiner Bewerbung und jetzt als Miss Earth Schweiz will ich auch andere motivieren, nachhaltiger zu denken und am Ende des Tages auch nachhaltiger zu handeln. Daher nehme ich die Wahl natürlich an und freue mich auf ein turbulentes sowie ereignisreiches Jahr (We young people in particular are responsible for our future. With my application and now as Miss Earth Switzerland, I also want to motivate others to think more sustainably and to act more sustainably at the end of the day. Therefore, I take the choice of course and look forward to a turbulent as well as eventful year), ” Peyrel said. She also wants to campaign against child labor as well as for fair working conditions in the textile industry.
Corinne Schädler, Miss Earth Schweiz 2015, served as one of the judges. Switzerland last placed in Miss Earth in 2008, with Nasanin Nuri. MISSOSOLOGY.ORG
