Sanneta Myrie was crowned Miss Jamaica World 2015 last August 16, besting 19 other contestants for the right to compete in the Miss World 2015 pageant in Sanya, China in December.
The 24-year-old medical doctor mentors youth in Kingston’s inner-city communities and runs an after-school programme.
“Winning was something I had hoped for, because I am very passionate about being an ambassador of Jamaica, representing my country and putting our culture on display in China,” she was quoted on The Gleaner.
Royanne DeSilva was first runner-up while Roshelle McKinley finished second runner-up. Completing tge Top 5 were Jovi Jaja and Robyn Lloyd.
Jamaica has won the Miss World crown thrice: Carole Joan Crawford (1963), Cindy Breakspeare (1976) and Lisa Hanna (1993).
