Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach toured the historical Plaza de la Armas right in the center of Lima where she was feted by the city’ mayor Luis Castañeda. The mayor then bestowed a special title to the beauty queen and named her as “Distinguished Guest of Lima” or ‘Huésped distinguida de Lima’ in Spanish.
Pia is in Lima to attend the Miss Universe Peru 2016 pageant where she will sit as one of the judges. She is accompanied by Jessica Newton, organizer of the event and the reigning Miss Universe Peru Laura Spoya.
As part of her duties as Miss Universe, Pia has finally set afoot in a Latin American nation for the first time ever. She is considered to be in a “hostile” territory. Local press pointed out that months ago, Laura Spoya threw her support to Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez who was wrongly crowned as the winner. Laura twitted months ago that she believes Ariadna is the true Miss Universe. However, Laura took a u-turn as this time around, she was all praises to Pia Wurtzbach.
