Miss Philippines Cinderella Faye Obeñita was crowned the 49th Miss Intercontinental during the finals held October 30 in Egypt.
The 25-year-old tourism operations officer is the second from her country to bag the title, after Karen Gallman in 2018. She bested more than 70 other candidates for the crown.
Mexico’s Paulina Uceda placed first runner-up, while England’s Romy Simpkins finished second runner-up. Seychelles’s Kelly-Mary Anette, Canada’s Kaitlyn Li, and Colombia’s Maria Paula Castillo were third, fourth, and fifth runners-up, respectively.
Asked during the final Q&A whether speaking English is an important factor in being Miss Intercontinental, Obeñita answered: “As an ambassador, I don’t think that speaking a specific language is very important here in Miss Intercontinental or any pageant at all, as long as that woman is a woman of power and grace, commitment and intelligence no matter what language she speaks. And that woman is actually a woman of style and substance that she can win any pageant or any endeavor that she is into.
“I have learned here actually in Miss Intercontinental that a woman should possess a power of substance, and I believe I am that woman…. We are living in a world that is very hard to survive and as Miss Intercontinental, I would like to be that source of hope, that source of inspiration on the true power of beauty that is felt in the kindness of our hearts and definitely the sincerity of our loving actions.” Missosology.Org
