The 25-year-old Amsterdam native defeated 9 other finalists earning the right to represent the Netherlands at the 71st Miss Universe pageant. Born to a Dutch mother and a Zimbabwean father, Ona Moody is a maternity nurse and is an alumnus of Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts, Amsterdam. She was crowned in a pageant held at Studio 21 in Hilversum. Eva van de Wetering, 21, is the first runner-up while the second runner-up is 26-year-old Solange Dekker.
Ona Moody hopes to follow the footsteps of Angela Visser who is the only Dutch woman to ever win the Miss Universe crown. The last placement of the Netherlands as Miss Universe was back in 2014 when Yasmin Verheijen was named as the 3rd runner-up. The country is currently ranked 21st at the Big5 Ranking.
