Miss Universe Puerto Rico Catalina Morales is no doubt one of the top runners in the upcoming Miss Universe 2015 pageant. She represents an enchanted island with five Miss Universe crowns in its kitty. She’s beautiful, she’s shapely and above all dedicated in her trainings.
But when Catalina Morales unveiled her national costume a day ago, the costume was met with disdain and insult instead of praise and support. The costume designed by Jaer Cabán is meant to depict the architectural history of Puerto Rico. It contains 25, 000 Swarovski crystals and is meant to catch the attention of the Miss Universe fans this December but the Puerto Ricans themselves are not happy about it.
One netizen called the costume as horrible and lacks imagination and creativity. One even compared it to bathroom tiles. One netizen joked that it would be better if the costume would consist a collage of newspaper headlines about the commonwealth’s fiscal crisis.
Puerto Rico showcased a wide variety of national costumes at Miss Universe. These costumes would range from pirate outfits to costumes giving tribute to a national park to colonial fashion.
Catalina Morales will showcase her national costume in the upcoming Miss Universe 2015 competition. The finals will be held on December 20 at the Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, Nevada.
