Puerto Rico’s representatives to two of the Big5 pageants were crowned by Nuestra Belleza Puerto Rico organization in a special program that aired on El Vocero on December 2.
Natalia Colón Figueroa was named Miss International Puerto Rico 2020. The 23-year-old model, certified kids yoga teacher, and accounting and human resources graduate will represent the island at the 60th Miss International beauty pageant in Japan next year.
“This year has been one of many challenges and changes for Puerto Rico and for the entire world. In the face of the pandemic and chaos, I have seen resilient, enterprising, sensitive and vulnerable people. I have also seen how we have changed, we have come together and we have learned to look inside ourselves to be more humane and supportive,” Colon wrote on Instagram.
“Today more than ever I believe that we must continue dreaming, because I already fulfilled a great dream. With great pride I share the news with you, I am dressed from Puerto Rico to represent my people to the world with all the love, responsibility and respect that this title entails,” added Colon, who represented Cataño in Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2018.
Meanwhile, Karla Inelisse Guilfú Acevedo was crowned Miss Supranational Puerto Rico 2020. The psychology graduate and volleyball player will head on to compete in the next edition of the Miss Supranational contest. No stranger to pageants. she was Miss Teen Mundial Puerto Rico 2018.
“From the moment I was informed that I would be chosen as the next representative of Puerto Rico in the international pageant Miss Supranational, I knew that it was part of my purpose to be in this position,” Guilfú posted on Instagram.
“From a very young age I have felt deep in my heart that I was born to do great things; to educate, inspire and in general dedicate my life to helping those around me. I remember constantly visualizing myself fulfilling these desires. Finding myself today in this position is undoubtedly an indispensable part of the path and purpose that God has in store for me.”
Also crowned in the event were Miss Grand International Puerto Rico 2020 Fabiola Valentín González and Miss Charm Puerto Rico 2020 Alejandra Pagan.
