Mister International allows transgender men to compete

A first in male pageant history.

The Mister International Organization (MIO) on March 5 announced that starting 2019, transgender men will be allowed to compete in the Mister International and Mister Singapore competitions.

The decision to open the competition to transgender contestants is in line with MIO’s “foundation of inclusion” and “celebration of diversity and of all cultures”.

In a statement furnished to Missosology, MIO president Alan Sim said, “We support equality for all men, and this is something we take very seriously.

“As Mister International Venezuela Francesco Piscitelli said during the Top 5 Final Question round: The world is changing and we have to change with this. Yes it is possible to allow this new change.”

“We continue to welcome those from all backgrounds to enter our system,” the statement added. “Our licensees work tirelessly every day to empower young men to be Distinctively Handsome and to be their personal best while raising awareness and money for philanthropic endeavors.”
