The reigning Miss World Megan Young is the special guest of honor during the annual Philippine Independence Day Parade in New York City. The Philippines is currently celebrating its 116th independence from Spain. The parade is held across the major cities across the United States but by far the biggest one is in New York. The actual date of Philippine independence is June 12 but in New York, the parade for the celebration is held every first Sunday of June.
