Karolína Michalčíková was crowned as the new Miss Universe Slovakia. She will compete at the 71st Miss Universe pageant which will be held next year. She is 23 years old and works as a model and as a make-up artist. She studied Human Resources and Personnel Management at Trenčianska Univerzita in Trenčín. This year’s Miss Universe Slovakia pageant was held in the central city of Banská Bystrica. Klaudia Korlová was named as the first runner-up while Máriia Glatzová is the second runner-up.
The usual three hour beauty fest that most fans of Miss Universe Slovakia pageant expected didn’t happen. The whole selection process took a little more than an hour and the swimsuit competition was ditched. The elegance associated with evening gown competition was nowhere to be found. Silvia Lakatošová was the first ever Slovak beauty to compete at the Miss Universe pageant back in 1994 and she may find it rather unusual how these changes were implemented. Till this day, Silvia is the only Miss Slovak Republic to make it to the semis of the prestigious pageant.
