Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach arrived in Ecuador on Friday, May 27, to meet with the victims of the earthquake that affected Machala and Esmeralda.
She was welcomed by former Machala mayor Carlos Falquez upon her arrival in Guayaquil.
The beauty queen was named honorary volunteer of the Guayas Red Cross and invited her to participate in the global appeal of raise resources to build 6,000 homes for the earthquake victims.
“I feel that this moment is very close to my heart because we in the Philippines also suffered calamities,” Pia said.
