The Covid-19 pandemic is forcing pageant organizations to shift business plans. Recently, a virtual selection was held to elect Ecuador’s representative to Miss Supranational.

Concurso Nacional de Belleza Ecuador, which holds the rights to send the country’s representatives to Miss World and Miss Supranational, was forced to cancel the finals set for May 23 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The organization decided to hold an online selection instead.

Justeen Cruz Lara of Comunidad USA, a 22-year-old interior design student who currently resides in New Jersey in the USA, was chosen to represent Ecuador in the next edition of the Miss Supranational pageant. She is no stranger to pageantry as she was Miss Ecuador New Jersey 2018.

“Thanks to the [Concurso Nacional de Belleza Ecuador] organization for this wonderful opportunity! Now they are my second family,” Cruz wrote in an Instagram post. “When you dream something with so much affirmation and work very hard for it, the universe conspires to make it happen!”

Also chosen in the online selection was Miss Grand Ecuador 2020 Lisseth Naranjo, 22, representing Azuay.
