MISS SUPRANATIONAL 2015 FINAL HOT PICKS
Text by Macoy Manlapaz
This year, no one can stop the “unstoppable” Karina Martín Jiménez, the 23-year-old Mexican bombshell, who was a runner-up at last year’s Nuestra Belleza Mexico 2014. This pageant is definitely all about her being crowned as the most beautiful woman in the world! She is a catwalk diva, sweet and sexy at the same time, and most importantly, she has the attitude of a winner. She was also the winner of Miss Fashion City, which was an early indication that she was the one to watch out all throughout the pageant. She did not disappoint us, indeed! Karina is closely followed by Spain’s Raquel Bonilla, who was also a runner-up at her country’s Miss Universe national finals. Getting the very important award, Miss Warsaw Expo, Raquel has the look which is perfect for the Victoria Secret runway. If she does not succeed here, she may try becoming a top model for she has a huge potential. In third place is none other than Gresya Amanda Maaliwuga of Indonesia. Her fans call her the “black barbie” because she has a very pretty face that resembles a Barbie doll. If Miss Supranational is brave enough to crown another Asian for the third year in a row, Gresya is most deserving of it. She is the recipient of the Best National Costume award, as well as one of the shortlisted finalists in the Best Evening Gown competition. Colombia’s sweetheart, the very lovely and friendly Mónica Castaño Agudelo, who was 4th Runner-up at last year’s Miss Grand International, is in fourth place. Monica is a model. She owns her own modeling school in her native Palmira, so it was not a surprise that she won the Miss Supranational Top Model award. Completing our Top 5 is Japan’s Mieko Takeuchi, with whom many may call as an underdog in this pageant. Mieko is a sensational woman, who was educated in the United States. She is fluent in English, which is rare for a Japanese beauty queen. They say that if Kurara Chibana, who was also an underdog at Miss Universe 2006, paved the way for Miss Universe to become big in Japan, Mieko may just be her Miss Supranational version.
Estonia’s Madli Vilsar, the winner of Miss Moto Show, is in sixth place and may win Europe’s Continental Queen award. The beautiful Siera Bearchell, who is both beauty and brains, is in seventh spot. With that, she is pegged to win the Continental Queen award for the Americas. Philippine bet Rogelie Catacutan has surprisingly excelled in this pageant more than her predecessor did. Her transformation and training from her team created a lot of wonders. Poland’s Ada Sztajerowska is another strong bet, at ninth place, and will surely get the support of the local crowd. And at tenth place, Aafreen Rachel Vaz of India is poised to win a back-to-back victory for India, although many think that it is unlikely to happen, considering the presence of Karina, Raquel and Gresya.
Iceland, Malaysia, Israel, Myanmar and Thailand are good alternates for the Top 10, and may score an upset win over the front runners. Australia is also strong this year. Kenya is Africa’s strongest bet and may pull a surprise in the Top 5 as the African challenger. Dominican Republic, Mauritius and Scotland complete our Top 20.
