The pressure is more intense in year’s Miss Philippines Earth pageant following the back-to-back victory of the Philippines in Miss Earth pageant (Jamie Herrell in 2014 and Angelia Ong in 2015).
The eventual winner faces a huge challenge: keep the momentum going in the international pageant and even win the crown for a thrid consecutive year. Who among this year’s candidates deserve to represent the country in the global stage? Here’s our FINAL HOT PICKS.
TOP CONTENDERS
We forsee a three-way battle for the top crown between the representatives of Puerto Princesa City and the overseas communities of London and Vienna.
Melanie Mader of Vienna is one fresh beauty. She radiates so much optimism that makes her so hard to ignore. Winning gold medals in evening gown and trash-to-class competitions are enough proof that she is one hot candidate.
Kiaragiel Gregorio of London is another top bet for the title. Aside from her gift of gab, she’s got a gorgeous body. The gold medal in the swimsuit competition, plus another recognition for her outstanding evening gown presentation should work to her advantage.
But if we are to consider pageant experience, Imelda Schweighart has the upperhand in this competition. She has improved a lot (expecially her figure!) since her Bb Pilipinas 2013 stint. She has only won one gold medal (for the grouo environmental seminar), but Imee has figured in the top 3 of the evening gown, cocktail wear and swimsuit competitions. Miss Earth is looking for a well-rounded and effective ambassadress and this lady fits the bill.
POTENTIAL SPOILERS
Dumaguete City’s Maria Fatima Al-sowyed his another stunning candidate who isn’t getting much attention recently. But with her outstanding figure and stage presence, not to mention her previous pageant experience as Miss Bikini Philippines, Tim could pull off a huge surprise.
Completing out Top 5 is Bellatrix Tan of Zamboanga City. She is a medalist in resorts wear competition and the online Miss Photogenic contest. Mindanao is yet to win its second MPE crown after April Ross Perez (who is also from Zamboanga) in 2002, and Bellatrix could definitely be that girl.
