As much as we would love to see a black African winning the Miss International crown, our panel of beauty experts took a pragmatic approach in formulating the inaugural Hot Picks for Miss International 2024. The panel pointed out that there’s a pattern of winners at Miss International which mainly rotates between Latin America, Europe and East Asia.
This year, the cycle points to a possible crown for East Asia. That’s good news for the frontrunner of the contingent, Miss Vietnam Huỳnh Thị Thanh Thủy. She’s riding on the momentum of her country and she’s also from the most prestigious and oldest beauty pageant in Vietnam. This makes her well-equipped to carry out the task of winning her country’s first-ever Miss International crown.
Latinas are also strong this year and the pack is headed by Miss Mexico Valeria Villanueva who hopes to become Mexico’s third titleholder. Pageant analysts also claim that Miss Peru Sofia Cajo is one of the frontrunners and what makes her journey interesting is that she is actually gunning for her country’s first ever crown.
From the European side, Miss Czech Republic Alina Dementjeva is by far the strongest. Her beauty type usually fares well at Miss International. Meanwhile, if there is any chance that a black African beauty will finally win the crown, Miss Ethiopia Hermela Nigussie will be “the one”. Everyone just talks about her ethereal beauty which is definitely crown material.
