Autumn in Tokyo has become sizzling hot as the 70 delegates of Miss International 2016 have started to arrive in Japan’s capital city since last weekend. This year’s edition promises to be one of the best and most exciting hosting of the annual pageant since the new ownership fell into the hands of Akemi Shimomura, the head of the International Cultural Association, the organizer of Miss International.
Panasonic is back once again as one of the major sponsors, while Japan Travel Bureau (JTB) will be bringing the delegates to Yamagata and Nagasaki Prefectures, as well as nearby historical city of Kamakura in Kanagawa Prefecture. Niigata and Saitama Prefectures have also invited the beautiful representatives to visit their respective local attractions, and also, there will be side trips to the world famous Nikko National Park and the Hakone area of the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park.
Regular events like the tea ceremony, ikebana experience, as well tasting of local Japanese cuisine are also on the program for this year. The all-important International Women’s Forum, as well as the visit to Showa Women’s University will be held next week, on October 21st, in a very exclusive location. / Stephen I. Diaz
