Miqueal-Symone Williams was crowned the new Miss Universe Jamaica during the finals held December 12.

The 23-year-old international model bested nine other finalists for the title and the right to represent the Caribbean island nation in the next edition of the Miss Universe pageant.

“I am so honored and humbled to be given this opportunity to represent you! ⁣⁣Thank you to every single person who has ever sent me a message or given me a call to encourage me and lend their support. It means the world to know I have a group of people who are behind me for the long run,” Williams wrote on Instagram.

Abigail Pinnock and Monique Thomas were first and second runners-up, respectively.

Jamaica came so close to winning its first Miss Universe crown when Yendi Phillips finished first runner-up in 2010. The country currently ranks 30th in Missosology Big 5 Ranking. Missosology.Org
