Newtownabbey native Leanne McDowell emerged victorious after a beauty contest held in May 11 at the Europa Hotel in Belfast. Leanne defeated 28 other Northern Irish beauties and she will soon compete at the Miss World 2015 contest. She walked away several prizes including £5,000 worth of package and a modeling contract.
Northern Ireland has been participating at Miss World as a separate entry since 2000. The province is yet to win the Miss World crown but has landed as semifinalists in 2005, 2006 and 2010.
