Heavy favorite and Missosology’s top pick Imelda Bautista Schweighart (21) of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan was crowned as the new Miss Philippines Earth 2016, besting 46 other contestants from all over the country, at the grand finale held at the UP Theater. She won the favor of the judges after confidently acing the Final Q&A, highlighting her advocacy, which is to promote organic farming. She also coyly invited president-elect Rodrigo Duterte to come and visit Puerto Princesa, and to support her cause.
Kiariagiel Gregorio, who is a balikbayan from London was adjudged Miss Air 2016. Crowd favorite Loren Mar Artajos of Laoag City was declared Miss Water 2016, while Shannon Rebecca Bridgman of Rosales, Pangasinan got the Miss Fire 2016 title. Miss Eco-Tourism 2016 title went to Melanie Mader, who was sent by the Filipino Community of Vienna to the annual search.
The Philippines has won the Miss Earth title twice in a row, with Angela Gabrena Ong as the reigning Miss Earth 2016. She inherited the title from Jamie Herrell in Vienna, Austria last year.
