Eva Wilson was crowned Miss Earth New Zealand 2021 in a special virtual ceremony held September 18.

The 24-year-old frontline health worker from Auckland will represent New Zealand at the 2021 Miss Earth pageant to be held later this year.

Despite an “unconventional pageant experience” – the competition was held half online and half in person due to the lockdown restrictions in New Zealand, Wilson said she is “so grateful that we are still able to host pageants while COVID-19 looms.”

Wilson previously competed in Miss Supranational 209. She placed in the Top 25 and bagged the Miss Supranational Oceania continental subtitle. She works for Hapai Te Hauora, a Māori public health agency in West Auckland.

“As a frontline health worker, it has been hard for me to switch between PPE during the day and evening gowns in the small hours of the night filming in my bedroom – but with the help of my lockdown bubble, we made it work. Thank you so much to those around me for helping make this dream come true,” she said.
