A 23-year-old model representing the province of Espaillat was crowned Miss Republica Dominicana Universo 2015 during the finals held August 30 at Teatro La Fiesta del Hotel Jaragua.
Clarissa Molina, a social communications student, has earned the right to represent the country in Miss Universe pageant later this year. She was 3rd runner-up in Nuestra Belleza Latina 2015 held last April.
First runner-up is Sophinel Báez (San Francisco de Macorís) and will compete in Reina Hispanoamericana 2015. Jennifer Pichardo (La Altagracia) finished 2nd runner-up and will compete in Miss Continentes Unidos.
In 2003, Amelia Vega became the first Miss Universe from the Dominican Republic. The country’s most recent placement was Yaritza Reyes’ Top 10 finish in 2013.
