Bulgaria’s representatives to two of the Big5 beauty pageants were crowned in an event held September 25 at the Ramada Sofia Hotel in Sofia.

Lora Asenova was named Miss Universe Bulgaria 2019. The 25-year-old model and pageant veteran from Byala Slatina will represent the country at the 2019 Miss Universe competition. Prior to winning Miss Universe Bulgaria, she was Supermodel Universe Bulgaria and Miss Northwest Bulgaria.

“[This is] what real happiness looks like,” Asenova wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a photo of her crowning moment.

The Miss World Bulgaria 2019 title went to Margo Cooper. The 26-year-old London-based journalism graduate and philanthropist will represent Bulgaria at the 2019 Miss World finals in December in London. No stranger to pageants, Cooper won Top Model of the World in 2016.

“For me it was a long way to reach this status and to be able to talk about things that really matter,” Cooper said in an Instagram post. “I learned how to win hard way, by failing, loosing and overcoming. Today I’m someone who won a contest. I can tell you that the most important thing is to remain a human being. To be kind.”

Also crowned were Miss Grand Bulgaria 2019 Victoria Vaseva, Miss Tourism Bulgaria 2019 Fanny Apostolova, Miss Asia Global Bulgaria 2019 Eva Dobreva, Miss Model of the World Bulgaria 2019 Dasha Uzun, and Miss Ocean Bulgaria 2019 Monica Rusimova.

A total of 23 contestants competed for the titles at stake.
