The Señorita Panamá 2020 competition concluded on Nobember 7 in Panama City with the representative of Panama Centro winning the top plum.
Brenda Smith, a 27-year-old activist, lecturer and journalism and cultural studies graduate, will represent the country at the 70th edition of the Miss Universe competition in Eilat, Israel in December. She succeeded 2020 titleholder Carmen Isabel Jaramillo.
Also crowned in the event was Señorita Panamá Supranational 2021 Cecilia Medina, who will compete in the next edition of Miss Supranational.
Khateryn Yejas, meanwhile, was named Señorita Panamá Grand. Hillary Watson and Ivis Nicole Snyder were first and second runners-up, respectively.
Smith was born in the US to a Mexican mother and Panamaian father She previously competed at the Mexicana Universal 2020 pageant and placed as runner-up to Andrea Meza, who eventually won the Miss Universe 2020 title for Mexico. She also joined Nuestra Belleza Latina 2018 and was a Top 15 finalist at the 2013 Miss Teen USA pageant representing Missouri.
