Pageant veteran Antonia Cristal Figueroa was crowned the new Miss Universo Chile in glittering ceremony held September 11 at Hotel Ontiveros in San Fernando.

The 26-year-old environmental civil engineer and professional model from Coquimbo bested 14 other finalists for the title. She will represent the nation at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Eilat, Israel in December. She suceeded 2020 titleholder Daniela Nicolas.

Maria Jose Norambuena placed first runner-up while Daniella Valentina finished second runner-up. Bárbara Pacheco Guerra and Camila Marchant completed the Top 5.

This will mark the third time that Figueroa will wear the Chile sash in a Big5 pageant. In 2016, she represented the country in Miss World in the USA but was unplaced. Tw years later, he competed in Miss Earth 2018 in the Philippines and placed in the Top 12.

“Thank you very much to all the people who have written to me on social networks and have shown their support. I can’t answer you all at this minute but thank you very much! A great challenge is coming for Miss Universe 2021. We are going to Israel,” Figueroa posted on Instagram.

Figueroa was a taekwondo champion and former professional violinist of the municipal theater in her region. She speaks English, German and Portuguese fluently. She is the president of an NGO called “Voluntarios por la Infancia (Volunteers for Children)” that helps children and adolescents in SENAME residences.
