Akpene Diata Hoggar of the Brong-Ahafo region was crowned the new Miss Universe Ghana during the finals held September 15 at Labadi Beach Hotel..
The model, blogger and entrpreneur will head on to compete at the 2018 Miss Universe competition in December in Bangkok, Thailand. She succeeded Ruth Quashie, who broke a 17-year placement drought for the country after placing in the Miss Universe 2017 Top 16.
Vanesa Tekor Akuetteh (Western) placed first runner-up, with Silvia Naa Morkor Commodore (Upper West) finishing second runner-up. Anita Sampana (Northern) and Gifty Nyamekye Quansah (Greater Accra) were third and fourth runners-up, respectively.
