After a two-year hiatus, Belize is returning to the Miss Earth stage.

Aarti Sooknandan was crowned Miss Earth Belize 2021 in a special crowning ceremony held August 8. The 26-year-old model, entrepreneur, artst and social content strategist will represent the country at the 2021 Miss Earth pageant.

“Belize, you are my home that is always in my heart, and I promise to make you proud at the @MissEarth pageant later this year,” she posted on Instagram.

Sooknandan holds a bachelors degree in advertising and marketing from the University of South Florida. She also finished her masters in business administration in marketing, magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University.

In 2019, Sooknandan competed in Miss Universe Belize finishing as a semifinalist and bagging Miss Congeniality.

“Since April, I have been diligently preparing, physically, mentally and spiritually to assure I am ready for the road ahead. I have been working on my platform of empowering and enriching the lives of Belizean women and girls, as well as furthering the conservation of our invaluable natural resources. My latest endeavor is to launch my new Podcast series in support of projects I have been working on since June of 2019 – and I can’t wait to share with all of you,” Sooknandan said.
