Representing the Marche region, 24-year-old Carmen Panepinto Zayati is the new Miss Universe Italy. She beat 19 other contestants during a pageant held at Lo Smeraldo Ricevimento di Lusso in Puglia, Italy. She will soon fly to El Salvador with the hope of capturing Italy’s first-ever Miss Universe crown.
Carmen Panepinto Zayati was an electronics teacher at Istituto di Istruzione Superiore (ISIS) Carducci-Volta-Pacinotti in Piombino, Tuscany. She has a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and currently pursuing her master’s in Bionics Engineering.
This year’s Miss Universe Italy pageant is already on its 19th edition. Sicily’s Andrea Pepi was named as the first runner-up while Campania’s Filomena Venus was the second runner-up. Camilla Franchetto of Trentino Alto Adige and Marcella Marlene Casillo of Valle d’Aosta completed the Top 5.
