Kate Alexeeva was supposed to compete last year which should have marked the return of Latvia at Miss Universe after more than a decade of hiatus. Alas, Kate was tested positive of COVID-19 and she decided to withdraw from the competition. The 28 year old model and influencer will once again get the chance of competing at Miss Universe. The official social media accounts of Miss Universe Latvia has announced that they will sending Kate again to the pageant. She will try her luck in El Salvador with the finals slated on November 18th.
Latvia is currently ranked 105th at the Big5 Ranking. To date, the country has only participated at Miss Universe twice – in 2005 where Ieva Kokoreviča made it to the Top 10 and in 2006 where Sanita Kubliņa failed to make it to the semis.
