Fresh from her Miss Universe stint, Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane is now tasked to bring her country’s campaign at Miss Supranational pageant. South Africa is yet to win a crown in the pageant which is weird because its neighbor Namibia is current titleholder. It is usually the Namibians following the footsteps of South Africans and not the other way around that is why winning the Miss Supranational title is quite an urgent matter for South Africa.
Lalela is perfect for the pageant as evidenced by her performance at Miss Universe 2021 where she finished as 2nd runner-up. As a professional model she is a perfect fit for the competition. She’s elegant, sophisticated and has a fighting spirit. She defied all expectations. She is also intelligent and quick witted. That is why her participation at the Miss Supranational 2022 pageant will definitely shake things up.
South Africa has a pretty good momentum. Aside from Lalela palcing 2nd runner-up at Miss Universe 2021 her compatriots made excellent impressions at the rest of Big5 pageants. Thato Mosehle finished as 2nd runner-up too at Miss Supranational 2021. Nompumelelo Maduna is one of the semifinalists at Miss Earth 2021 while Shudufhadzo Musida will return to Puerto Rico next month to compete at Miss World after named as one of the Top 40.
If Lalela will eventually triumph, she will not only be the first South African to win the title, but she will also be the first black Miss Supranational. Remember, the rest of the Big5 pageants had already black titleholders. Truly, it will be a tremendous history if Lalela will bring the first Miss Supranational crown back to her country!
