Andreína Martinez, representing the Dominican community in the USA, was crowned Miss República Dominicana Universo 2021 during the finals held November 7.
The 24-year-old psychology and Latin American studies graduate bested 14 other candidates for the title. She will represent the country at the 70th edition of the Miss Universe competition in Eilat, Israel in December.
Martinez succeeded 2020 titleholder Kimberly Jiménez, who placed fourth runner-up at the 69th Miss Universe. She currently works as coordinator of Women’s Equality Center. She is fluent in English and Spanish and plays volleyball and softball.
Debbie Aflalo Vargas (Azua) placed first runner-up, while Yamilex Hernández (La Vega) finished second runner-up. Elianny Capellán (Samana) and Erika Silverio (La Romana) were third and fourth runners-up, respectively.
