Thai-Australian Anchilee Scott-Kemmis was crowned Miss Universe Thailand 2021 in glittering finale held October 24 at NICE Pattaya Convention & Exhibition Center in Pattaya.
The 22-year-old social researcher, model, and body positivity advocate bested 29 other finalists for the title. She will represent the nation at the 70th Miss Universe competition in Eilat, Israel in December. She suceeded 2020 titleholder Amanda Obdam.
Thai-South African Tharina Botes placed first runner-up, while Nanthiya Suwansaweang finished second runner-up. Kasama Suetrong and Pimnara Vonzurmuehlen were third and fourth runners-up, respectively.
Scott-Kemmis is redefining Thailand’s beauty standards by celebrating diversity and individuality through her online social movement #RealSizeBeauty. The movement came out of her own experience of being body-shamed and being told to lose 10kg of weight for a casting call at the age of 13.
“I think it will empower women, particularly Thai women, by really showing how liberating it is, once you accept yourself for who you are and celebrate your individuality,” she was quoted by Thai PBS World.
